The subject of my watermedia paintings is the journey...life...images drawn in charcoal, of seemingly unrelated subjects but those that have had profound impact on me during my journey...the animals, games, people, obstacles, bones...representing both the temporal and the eternal.
I spend many hours walking in the woods with my dogs, an adopted lab and an ISSR Registered Shiloh Shepherd plush male. We hike the 5 miles of state forest I have maintained for 20 years (for the Foothills, Fingerlakes, and North Country Trail Groups) and the nearby Zoar Valley. Back in my studio I recall images of this time of renewal; as the images are developed in charcoal, veils of subtle color are added. This quality has been strongly influenced by the filtered light of the forest. My studio has many shelves of treasures brought home from these walks and my memory holds even more.
