The subject of my watermedia paintings is the journey...life...images drawn in charcoal, of seemingly unrelated subjects but those that have had profound impact on me during my journey...the animals, games, people, obstacles, bones...representing the temporal and the eternal. I have long been a hiker, spending many hours in the woods, usually in Western New York where I maintain 10 miles of hiking trail (for the Foothills, Fingerlakes, and North Country Trail Groups). In my paintings, I build up many layers of soft colors and this quality has been strongly influenced by the filtered light of the forest. My studio has many shelves of treasures brought home from these walks.
